About

This may come as a shock to you, but I love to travel — planes, trains, automobiles, and cruise ships — you name it, I’m there.  I’ve been around travel all of my life.  I grew up around travel, and I live it every day.  Practically my entire family is in aviation.  Me?  I realized a while ago that I don’t want to fly the plane, but I sure don’t mind being flown around!  Being raised in an “airline family”, I’ve always been fascinated in seeing the world, as well as the planes and ships that enable us to do so.  This fascination led me to a brief stint working for a major cruise line as my first job out of college.  Since then, I’ve been focusing my efforts on getting out there and traveling wherever I can, as often as possible.

Over the past couple years, I’ve managed to embark on quite a few adventures all over the world by keenly looking for deals and accumulating a substantial amount of miles and points.

This blog is meant to share my knowledge of travel — airlines, loyalty programs, points, miles, and anything else travel related that I feel like mentioning!  I hope to document my trips, along with the strategies and methods that I use to plan them.  All of this is in an effort to encourage family, friends, and YOU, the reader to get out and see the world — it’s really much easier than you may think!

Enjoy!

    Hi Sean:
Love all your trip reports. There are kabollions on the internet so finding good ones can be a chore. You have the vacation life we all dream of doing. So, the question I have for you is regarding your cruises. You look like your maaaaayybe late 20s or early 30s but you’ve 34 cruises??!!! Even with your family growing up that means that you were probably full time on the Love Boat or something. So, how old are you?
    Thanks.

Thanks for your kind words on the trip reports! You nailed the age — I’m 33. I grew up doing on a couple cruises per year with my family, as that was our preferred family vacation (everyone could do what they pleased during the day and we would have dinner together as a family at night).

After college, I lived in South Florida for two years where I worked for Carnival (corporate – not on the ships). During my two years in South Florida, I went on probably ten or so cruises in total. The family continued to cruise together as a family until a few years ago. We don’t cruise as much now, but I get on a cruise every couple years or so. I actually wrote cruise reviews back when I was in Middle and High School – those are pretty fun to read – I’ve thought about posting those.

Again – thanks for your kind comment. I haven’t had time to write all that much lately, but I do have several trip reports to catch up on, and I hope to have some of those out next week!

  3. I was seeing if you may be able to give me some advice on how to purchase Carnival Cruise line gift cards. They sell them on eBay for face value. I would like to be able to get them for about 90% of face value using shopping portals, certain web sites and certain credit cards. This is the starting point and just let me know if you know of a better way.
1st I would love to find a website that sells them at a discount, but so far no luck.
2nd I would like to find a portal to buy eBay gift cards from at a discount using either portals or certain credit cards.
3rd once I have purchased the eBay gift cards I would also use another portal to be able to get cash back from purchasing the carnival gift cards using their portal.
So far this is what I have.
I’m buying a eBay gift card at Staples using one of my credit cards that pays me 5% back. It takes a few days for them to send me the eBay gift card. Then I’m looking for a site that will give me the most back from using their portal to purchase the carnival gift card from eBay.
Also the grocery stores like Safeway and Kroger sell Carnival gift cards on their websites at face value.
Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Thanks
